RETREAT ACTIVITIES

DRY FIRE & SAFETY BRIEF

In this crucial training aspect, participants will learn the fundamentals of marksmanship and firearms safety. We will then practice grip, sight picture, trigger pull, and reloading, all while using unloaded firearms.

DYNAMIC SHOOTING

Retreat guests will be introduced to fundamentals of semi-auto rifle use as it pertains to action shooting including transitioning between targets and safely moving while shooting.

PRECISION PRINCIPLES

Guests will enjoy the challenging art of long range shooting, where calculating for bullet drop, adjusting for wind, and estimating target distance  are all required skills.

Frequently Asked Questions

May I attend this retreat?
If you are a Guidance Shooting Club member, are accompanying an alumni, or have been invited personally, you may register. If you are completely new to the Guidance Shooting Club, please check out our Private Lesson section to get involved!

Is there a dress code?
Yes. Even though this retreat is less formal than usual due to the athletic nature of the shooting and hiking course, attendees are still expected to dress appropriately for the experience. Outfits should be comprised of natural looking materials. Examples of acceptable clothing are button down or Henley shirts, khaki pants, jeans, cowboy hats, and flat caps. No bright synthetic materials or logos are permitted, and no baseball caps. Solid color, tucked in short or long sleeve shirts will be permitted during this retreat.

Do I need any competitive shooting experience?
Not at all! This camp is well suited to new shooters and those just getting started in the hobby.

Do I need any camping equipment?
Not if you do not want to camp outside. However, basic toiletries, a towel, flip flops, and a water bottle are recommended. The guest bunkhouse is a step above camping, but the nights can still be cold in certain parts of the year, so long underwear is a good idea just in case.

Do I need to bring any Food?
No need! All meals and snacks are provided, as well as coffee and tea in the mornings. If you have any special dietary requirements, please let us know BEFORE the start of the retreat so we can prepare the right meals for you.

Do I need any shooting equipment?
Not at all! Students will be provided with all the training equipment and ammo needed for each shooting session. Pants with belt loops are required, as well as close toed shoes. If you wish to bring your own guns to the retreat, please contact us beforehand to be sure they meet the requirements needed for the training.

What is the closest airport?
The nearest airport is Fresno (FAT).  Please contact us to verify your flights will work with the official schedule before you purchase them! Be sure to closely follow the TSA laws on flying with a firearm as seen HERE. Furthermore, be sure your handgun follows California laws. Check HERE for details.
