WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

DRY-FIRE ORIENTATION

In this crucial training aspect, participants will learn the fundamentals of marksmanship and firearms safety. We will then practice grip, sight picture, trigger pull, drawing from a holster, and safely moving between shooting positions, all while using unloaded firearms.

COLT REVOLVER

Retreat guests will first review the principles of marksmanship and firearms safety. After that we will take a deep dive into the effective use of the Colt Single Action Army in 1873. This firearm, often referred to as a Colt Peacemaker, is a staple of the Wild West!

SHOTGUN

Participants will learn the effective use of a pump-shotgun by practicing with a Mossberg 590 as it pertains to Cowboy Action Shooting. There will also be opportunity to handle a vintage Winchester 1897 made in 1908 chambered in 12ga!

LEVER RIFLE

The lever-rifle is a staple of the American West. Once referred to as 'repeating rifles' these guns redefined on what it meant to be able to shoot a rifle quickly under pressure. Attendees will learn the joys of pushing working with these fascinating firearms.

SPEED & ACCURACY

Attendees will push their limits of vintage firearms manipulation! They will attempt to shoot multiple targets quickly and transition between shooting positions while being timed to see how fast they can hit all the targets without missing! In this part of the training we will also be engaging moving targets!

AERIAL CLAY TARGET SHOOTING

Using shotguns, we will attempt to bust flying clay targets out of the air building similar skills used for bird hunting, or Olympic Trap and Skeet shooting.

PRECISION RIFLE HIKE

In this session guests will go on a scenic hike through the property while playing a friendly target shooting game similar to golf, but with a lever rifle.

OLD WEST SHOOTOUT

Attendees will get to run through an Old West town setting while shooting all of these cowboy guns windows and doorways engaging multiple targets as fast as they can!
